Special Traditional Pakistani Sweet Zarda Rice

A classic Pakistani sweet rice dessert made with sugar, milk, and yellow-colored basmati rice, topped with crunchy dry fruits. Perfect for festive occasions like Eid and family gatherings.

Ingredients
  

  • 375 g Rice
  • 375 g Sugar
  • ½ tsp Yellow food color
  • ½ cup Milk
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • Dry fruits almonds, cashews, raisins

Instructions
 

Boil Rice

  • Add water in a pot and mix yellow color
  • Bring to a boil
  • Add rice and cook until 90% done
  • Drain and set aside

Roast Dry Fruits

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil
  • Add dry fruits and roast for 1 minute on low flame
  • Remove and set aside

Prepare Sugar Syrup

  • Add 1–2 tbsp oil in the same pan
  • Add sugar and milk
  • Cook on low flame until sugar melts

Combine

  • Add boiled rice into syrup
  • Mix gently
  • Cook for 1 minute

Dum Cooking

  • Add roasted dry fruits on top
  • Cover and cook on very low flame for 15–20 minutes
  • Do not overcook rice, Use low flame to avoid burning, Mix gently
